Roy Kinsella nám poslal fotografie dalšího dokončeného Spitfira od AZmodel. Sám ke stavbě napsal:
Tento model byl postaven z nádherné stavebnice AZ Models Spitfire T.9. Model je sám o sobě krásný a skvěle reprezentuje úctyhodný poválečný dvoumístný Spitfire. Stavebnici jsem doplnil o další detaily, včetně sady motoru a jednoho browningu na křídle. Díly do sebe poměrně dobře zapadaly, bylo třeba provést pouze drobné úpravy, aby resinové díly odpovídaly stavebnici AZmodel. Hlavní kola ze stavebnice jsem vyměnil za třípaprsková, která jsem našel v jiné stavebnici. Otevřel jsem kabiny a změnil jsem uspořádání opěrek hlavy. Pro efekt jsem „vytočil“ směrovku a ostruhové kolo.

This model was built using the wonderful AZ Models Spitfire T.9 kit. This is a beautiful model by itself and an excellent representation of the venerable post war, two seat Spitfire. I added some additional detail to the kit, including an engine set and one wing mounted browning. The parts fitted reasonably well and only slight adjustments had to be made for resin parts to fit the AZ Model kit. I swapped out the main kit wheels for 3 spoke ones found in another kit. I opened the canopies and changed the headrest arrangement & scratch built some new doors. I repositioned the tail and tail wheel for effect.
Irské Spitfiry mohly být vybaveny bombami a raketami. V tomto případě jsem použil sadu bomb z jiné plastikové stavebnice, která sem dokonale pasuje. Irské Spitfiry (a Seafiry) byly nabarveny stejnou barvou, jakou je zelený interiér kokpitu. Pravděpodobně kvůli snadné údržbě. Některé spitfiry byly později natřeny stříbrnou barvou. Zde je použita barva Tamiya Cockpit Green XF-71 a většina motoru a kovových dílů je natřena barvami Alcald.
Irish Spitfires could be fitted with Bombs and rockets. In this instance I have used bomb set from another plastic kit which fit perfectly here. Irish Spitfires (and Seafires) were painted in the same colour as the interior cockpit green. Probably for ease of maintenance. Some spitfires were later painted silver. The paint used here is Tamiya Cockpit Green XF-71 and most of the engine and metal parts are painted with Alcald paints.
K vyobrazení IAC 159 jsem použil obtisky Max Decals spolu s obtisky ze stavebnice, protože byl vyfotografován na konci služby, pravděpodobně v roce 1960.
I used Max Decals along with the kit decals to represent IAC 159 as she was photographed late in service, probably 1960.
„159“ je bývalý Spitfire Mk.IX RAF, sériový MJ772. RAF byl dodán v roce 1943 a zažil značné boje, včetně bojů nad plážemi v den D. Během bojů byl poškozen a později přestavěn na T.9, který od roku 1951 sloužil u irského letectva. Spitfiry v irské službě byly později nahrazeny letouny Vampire a všechny zbývající Spitfiry byly později prodány soukromým zájemcům. Letoun č. 159 byl použit při natáčení filmu „Bitva o Británii“, kde byl opět poškozen, tentokrát však při lehké havárii. Později strávil nějaký čas v různých rukou po celém světě a dodnes létá jako MJ772 s označením RAF 341 Sqn a je umístěn na základně Biggin Hill ve Velké Británii.
„159“ was a former RAF Spitfire Mk.IX, serial MJ772. It was delivered to the RAF in 1943 and saw considerable combat, including fighting over the D-Day beaches. It was damaged during combat and later rebuilt as a T.9, serving with the Irish Air Corps from 1951. The Spitfires in Irish service were later replaced with Vampire Jets and all the remaining spitfires were later sold to private buyers. 159 was used during the filming of the movie „The Battle OF Britain‘, were it was again damaged but this time in a soft crash. 159 spent some time in various hands around the world and still flies today as MJ772 with RAF 341 Sqn markings and is based at Biggin Hill, UK.
